The Treasure Chest

This project was initiated when we started to meet children in India who longed for, but had never had their own toy.

They had often watched children playing with a toy, but never dared to dream that they could have their own.

As paediatricians, we believe in the importance of play for all children. Through play children learn skills such as counting and the alphabet, and physically they develop co-ordination and fine motor skills.

Children learn to be creative and imaginative, through play, and important social skills are naturally learnt as children play together.

Children, no matter what their past or background, regain their childhood through play and should be encouraged and nurtured.

Through the treasure chest we aim to provide each child with a culturally relevant gift that they can play with and call their own.
